Welcome to Our Home

About us

We moved to France twenty years ago and Keranmeriet is now our home. Our aim has always been to make it a relaxing and friendly place to stay and, as we live on the farm, we are always around to give you any advice or information you may need whilst on holiday here.

The Farm

Unwind in a Peaceful Rural Escape

The Farm is set in 100 acres of protected environment and we are surrounded by our own fields and woods. It is a peaceful spot and a great place to unwind and get away from the stresses of a busy life.

The Farm is arable and we generally have wheat or corn crops in the fields during the summer months. We also do the haymaking during May or June. We have a few animals on the farm including Luna our Golden Retriever, two cats, some chickens, ducks, and turkeys. In addition, there is lots of wildlife on the farm with deer, wild boar, coypus, salamanders, and birds of prey to name a few.

Discover Rural Adventures for the Whole Family

With 100 acres of land, there’s plenty for the whole family to explore without venturing away from Keranmeriet! With everything from a Great Chestnut the children love to climb to lots of fishing spots, there are little adventures around every corner.

Walking Opportunities

Our expansive grounds are perfect for exploration, offering easy access for walks. A short five-minute stroll leads through enchanting woods to a secluded meadow, bathed in sunshine during summer—a tranquil spot with picnic tables ideal for a romantic aperitif or a family picnic complete with a game of rounders! Children adore the freedom to play, climb trees, and create dens, a perfect place to make special memories.

The Pond

In the meadow you will find a pond that we created after finding several natural springs. Our idea was to encourage more wildlife to make a home in our small corner of Brittany. We are happy to say that we now have lots of visitors including, Wild Ducks, Coypu, Sparrow Hawks, Buzzards and Wild Boar. If you like fishing you can fish in the pond. Children have great fun searching for pond life with their fishing nets and buckets .

The River Aven

The picturesque River Aven gracefully winds through our meadow, bordering our land for approximately 1km. It offers a delightful environment for children to paddle and explore. Stepping stones in the river lead to a couple of small islands, perfect for young and seasoned explorers alike. We care about our environment and maintain the riverbanks and meadow to preserve this pristine, untouched landscape for future generations.

Plenty to See & Do

A Perfect Spot to Explore Brittany

At Keranmeriet, we are conveniently located 2 minutes from Rosporden, which is a busy market town with lots of shops, bakeries, and supermarkets. The three lakes In Rosporden are perfect for an afternoon walk/bike ride, but don't forget your bread for the ducks and swans!

Lots of other attractions are also within easy reach, which means that you won’t have to drive too far to go sightseeing. The miles of beautiful beaches are only 15 minutes away and you could visit a different one every day of your holiday and still not have seen them all.

Time for a Swim

Take a Dip in Our Heated Pool!

Our pool measures 12 meters by 6 meters and features Roman steps, offering a gentle entry ideal for younger children and cautious adults alike. During the summer months, the pool is heated for added comfort. Safety is paramount, with the pool area enclosed by a 1.3-meter-high fence and a secure gate designed to prevent toddlers from accessing it unsupervised.

Surrounded by lush shrubbery, the pool area includes a spacious lawn and a patio for lounging and relaxation. Guests can enjoy ample amenities such as sun loungers, tables, chairs, and parasols. Additionally, we provide a Paddling Pool specifically for younger children, which can be set up in your garden or placed by the main pool for added convenience.

The Pool is open from the end of May until the end of September.

Bee Hives at Keranmeriet

Currently, we nurture 13 bee hives across our farm, where bees gather nectar from the diverse array of trees and flowers that thrive on our land and in the surrounding countryside. Previously, we harvested honey once annually, but now that our hives are well-established, we collect honey twice a year, in May and September. Our bees produce a natural chestnut-flavoured honey during the summer, reflecting the rich local flora.

We delight in sharing our beekeeping practices with guests, inviting them to visit our hives and learn about their vital role in our ecosystem. Positioned discreetly away from the cottages, our hives blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings, ensuring minimal disturbance.
