Brittany is steeped in culture and history and all this is set in a region of beautiful landscapes and stunning coastlines. No more so than in Southern Finistère where we are located, hier vindt u een land van trots en zeer vriendelijk Bretons, who welcome all who visit to enjoy their homeland. Fishing is still the mainstay of the economy and local seaweed is another that is used by the food, farmaceutische en cosmetische industrie.
Er is veel te zien en te doen, ongeacht het weer en ondanks de misvattingen het regent minder in Rennes dan Toulouse, minder in Carnac dan Nice en minder in Brest dan Biarritz! We have a spectacular coastline with stunning beaches that haven’t been overdeveloped so still retain their natural charm. Medieval towns with fascinating architecture, dorpjes met rieten huizen gebouwd van de lokale graniet, schilderachtige vissershavens, (waar ze filmen de Franse versie van Doc Martin!).
Geniet van de talrijke Bretoense feesten en festivals in de zomermaanden, met dansende, muziek, vuurwerk en traditionele gerechten op grote prijzen. Voorbeeld lokaal geteelde oesters of de verse vis die wordt aangeland in een van de nabijgelegen havens, you can even buy it straight off the fishing boats when they come in. Or just take time out in to savour the local dishes in the restaurants and cafes.
If you have lots of energy to spare there are great coastal and forest walks or you could just wander around the ramparts of the walled town in Concarneau. The roads, tracks and forests are perfect for mountain biking and most places produce a map of all the routes. Added to this you can go sailing, duiken, surfing, het windsurfen, vissen op zee en zelfs Island hopping.
Wat kunnen we zeggen dat dit een fantastische plek om te gaan op vakantie, we vonden het zo leuk dat wij zijn verhuisd!
